ANKARA - Lenin Prize-winning philosopher Göran Therborn stated in his message of support for the process that Abdullah Öcalan deserves the Nobel Prize for his call for peace.

Lenin Prize-winning philosopher Göran Therborn sent a message to the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) regarding the Peace and Democratic Society Process that developed following the call made by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February. In his message, Therborn stated that Abdullah Öcalan deserves the Nobel Prize for his call.

Therborn's message reads as follows: “Abdullah Öcalan, the Leader of the Kurdish People, has issued a call for peace at a time when warmongering is running rampant across the world. There is no doubt that Öcalan is the Mandela of our time. If it works out, he would a worthy Nobel Peace Prize winner. The Kurdish people feel a rightful pride in having such a leader. I have learned that the committee formed within the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will meet with Öcalan in the coming days. This is a historic moment not only for the Kurds but for the entire world. I fully support Öcalan, who views the democratic and peaceful resolution of the Kurdish Question as part of the international socialist struggle.”
