WHO IS PETER MCLAREN?
Peter McLaren was born in Canada in 1948. A world-renowned educational theorist, McLaren is also a writer and academic. Known especially for his work in the field of critical pedagogy, McLaren draws attention with his criticism of capitalist education systems, centred on inequality, class struggle, racism, cultural identity and ideology in education. In his work, he was deeply influenced by the ideas of Latin American educator Paulo Freire and was one of the important figures who introduced his "emancipatory education" approach to the Anglo-Saxon world.
