NEWS CENTER – The Iraqi Initiative for Abdullah Öcalan’s Freedom stated in its 15 February statement that it would continue its struggle until Abdullah Öcalan was seen free among his people.

The Iraqi Initiative for Abdullah Öcalan's Freedom issued a statement on the 27th anniversary of the 15 February conspiracy. The statement noted that the detention of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali Prison is not merely a "punitive measure," but rather a "systematic political initiative aimed at obstructing the democratic peace project calling for the brotherhood of peoples."

Emphasising "moral and political responsibility," the Initiative demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners. The statement declared, "The freedom of the leader and intellectuals is a necessary condition for any political solution; true peace cannot be built while its symbols remain imprisoned."

The initiative stated that it would continue its peaceful and democratic struggle, adding, “We will continue to stand with the Kurdish people and all freedom-seeking peoples of the world until this historical injustice ends. We will continue to raise our voices for justice until we see Abdullah Öcalan free among his people.”
