ŞIRNEX – Calling on all four parts of Kurdistan to rise up against the ongoing occupation attacks targeting Rojava, women from the Botan region said, “Today is the day of serhildan. To resist is to live—rise up.”
Attacks on Rojava by HTS, ISIS, and Turkey-affiliated paramilitary forces continue. While the Rojava administration has declared mobilization in response, reactions against the attacks are growing across Kurdistan and around the world. In the Şirnex districts of Cizîr (Cizre), Silopiya (Silopi), and Hezex (İdil), where mass protest actions have been held, women are leading the demonstrations with resistance songs, slogans, and ululations.
Speaking to women during protests attended by thousands in Silopiya and Hezex, participants emphasized that the Rojava Revolution is significant for all humanity and said that the peoples of the world owe the people of Rojava a dignified life.
Taking part in a march attended by thousands in Silopiya, Emine Alkış (63) stated that Kurds protected everyone against ISIS without discrimination, saying, “Kurds gave thousands of martyrs to save humanity. Is this the return for that? We are mothers; our hearts are burning. We call on all states: take your hands off the Kurds. Do not do politics over Kurdish blood. Kurds have resisted for thousands of years. Enough is enough. We want peace. The peoples living in the four parts of Kurdistan should struggle only for Kurdistan.”
‘KURDS MUST BE UNITED’
Stating that Kurds are fighting with dignity, Fadile Ateş (71) said, “Kurds should join hands and unite against their common enemies. The Kurdish homeland is more precious than gold—no one should give it up. No one should forget this: today Rojava may be breakfast, but tomorrow those who remain silent will be lunch. That is why no one should stay silent; everyone must rise up. The four parts of Kurdistan must stand together. If Kurds are united, their enemies cannot defeat them.”
Emphasizing that no one who considers themselves human can remain silent, Emine Özerk (56) said, “A struggle between existence and annihilation is being waged today. Everyone must form a circle around Rojava. Just as we defended Kobanê yesterday, we must do the same today for all of Rojava. If Kurds are eliminated in Rojava today, tomorrow they will want to do the same in Başûr and Bakûr. Everyone must listen to their conscience and raise their voice. No one should sit comfortably at home until Rojava is free. We are here and we will continue to exist. We existed yesterday and will exist tomorrow. Thousands tried to destroy us—but they are the ones who are gone,” she said.
‘TODAY IS THE DAY OF SERHILDAN’
Addressing crimes committed against the dead during the attacks on Rojava, Ayşe Demir (52) said, “They are massacring our children. Everyone must rise up. Anyone with even a little conscience and honor will rise up. Today is the day. Tomorrow may be too late. Kurds must come to their senses. No one should trust any state; everyone should trust themselves and the children of this people. Today is the day of serhildan. To resist is to live—rise up.”
Speaking at a march attended by thousands in Hezex, Emine Gökçe (53) said, “There is supposed to be a peace process here, yet during this process they sent their gangs to attack Rojava. This is not how peace works. Those killed in Rojava are our children. We will not remain silent in the face of the killing of our children.”
Stating that HTS and Turkey-backed paramilitary forces attacking Rojava chant religious slogans, Fadile Malgaz (60) said, “These are ISIS. They say ‘Allahu Akbar,’ yet they behead people. They are absolutely not Muslim. Everyone must see this. Turkey must stop supporting these enemies of Islam. ISIS and Turkey are attacking together. But they should know this: Rojava is not alone. They must not forget that Rojava will once again become a grave for ISIS.”
‘KOBANÊ IS THE HONOR OF THE KURDISH PEOPLE’
Declaring that they will stand by the Rojava Revolution to the very end, Fatim Ekinci (64) said, “Just as we defended Kobanê yesterday, today we will once again defend all of Rojava. We will not allow Kobanê to fall. Kobanê is the honor of the Kurdish people. Long live the Kobanê resistance.”
Drawing attention to the historical injustices faced by Kurds, Adile Boz (55) said, “Kurds have always been subjected to injustice because they are compassionate. Those attacking say they are Muslims. No—they are not Muslims; we are the true Muslims. They associate partners with God. If they think Kurds will surrender to them, they are mistaken. Kurds will resist to the end. They will not see a single Kurd surrender,” she said.
