COLEMÊRG - Kudret Aksu the mother of Suleyman Aksu, who lost his life in the Pirsûs Massacre, stated that they expect concrete steps from the state and said, "I call on every mother who has paid a heavy price, let's embrace this process."

It has been 52 days since Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society", which was made public on 27 February. The call has been embraced by many sectors of society, but no concrete steps have been taken by the government and the state. Families of those who lost their lives during the conflict continue to call on the state to take steps.

On 20 July 2015, "33 Dream Travellers" were killed in a suicide bomb attack against young people who gathered in Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha (Urfa) to bring toys to children in Kobanê (Kobani) in North and East Syria. One of those killed in the attack was Süleyman Aksu.

Aksu's mother Kudret Aksu demanded the prosecution of the perpetrators of her son after the successful conclusion of the process initiated.

Born in 1990 in Gever (Yüksekova) district of Colemêrg (Hakkari), Süleyman Aksu graduated from Çukurova University, Department of English Language Teaching. Aksu set out from Gever to Pirsûs to give hope to the children of Kobanê. Aksu's dreams were cut short by a bomb attack. The grave of Aksu, who was buried in his beloved Gever, was vandalised 7 times in 9 years. Despite the criminal complaint filed on 25 April 2019 against the attacks on Aksu's grave on the charges of "insulting the memory of a person" and "damaging places of worship and cemeteries", no action has been taken against those who vandalised the grave despite the 5 years that have passed.

SHE CONTINUES HER SON'S STRUGGLE

Aksu's struggle was taken over by his mother Kudret Aksu. Wearing her white scarf after her son, Kudret Aksu fought for peace wherever there was oppression. Embracing the legacy left by her son, Kudret Aksu is now struggling to expand the "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" made by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February. She takes an active role in efforts to bring peace to the country.

10 YEARS OF STRUGGLE FOR JUSTICE

Reminding that 10 years have passed since Suleyman Aksu was murdered, Kudret Aksu stated that the perpatrators of the murdered children, women and young people should be tried and said, "For 10 years we have been waiting for confrontation and the prosecution of the perpetrators. I wonder why my son was murdered."

Stating that they do not want anyone to be hurt anymore, Kudret Aksu stressed: I have been travelling to the mountains, plains and schools for 10 years, by I cannot find my son. Let this state of war end, let there be peace. We have wanted a solution and peace since day one. We wanted our language, our land and our rights that belong to us. Kurds should live in their land with honour and with their heads held high. The state must now take a step. We have taken a step, now it is the turn of the state and they need to take a concrete step."

‘LET THE MURDERERS BE TRIED’

Kudret Aksu stated that thousands of prisoners in prison will be free when the state takes steps and added, "We live in the hope of peace, justice and freedom. The families of police officers and soldiers should also take steps and make calls regarding this process. Mothers' hearts should not burn anymore. We call on every mother who has paid a heavy price; let's embrace this process. Let this war and blood stop. No more young people should die. After peace and justice are achieved, the murderers should also be tried."
