ISTANBUL- IHD continued its "sending money to prisoners" campaign against the sentencing of those who send money to prisoners on charges of "financing a terrorist organization" and sent money to its members sentenced to prison on the same charge.

The campaign to send money to prisoners, which was launched against the imprisonment of those who send money to prisoners on the charge of "financing a terrorist organization", continues. Human Rights Association (İHD) Istanbul Branc sent money to their member Hatice Onaran, who was sentenced to prison on charges of "financing a terrorist organization" for sending money to prisoners. IHD members sent money to Hatice Onaran, who is in Gebze Women's Closed Prison, at Istanbul Beyoğlu PTT Branch.

IHD Istanbul Branch Chair Gülseren Yoleri stated that the solidarity of the prisoners was prevented. Gülseren Yoleri said, "Our friend Hatice was arrested for sending money to her husband and a few other prisoners. Hatice Yıldız is also in prison for sending money to her daughter. The money deposited in prison belongs to the prison administration. Therfore, the money is spent by them. We wnant this practice to be stopped as soon as possible. Depositing money from outside is not a crime, it is solidarity. We call on all citizens to stand in solidarity with the prisoners."

Drawing attention to Hatice Onaran's illness, Gülseren Yoleri said, "She is being held as an ill prisoner. Ill prisoners must be released according to international conventions. Hatica Onaran's right to life and helath is being prevented. In this sense, we reiterate oru call for the authorities to take action and for the public to be sensitive."

REACTION TO HDK OPERATION

Referring to the operation carried out against the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) in the morning, Gülseren Yoleri added, "While we are saying these things, we are witnessing the arrests of everyone who is in opposition with new operations every day. Today we have encountered another operation. They are filling the prisons, which are already full of arrests, even more. We protest agianst these unjust arrests and detentions. We make our call to the state on this issue."
