ANKARA - Speaking in front of the Ministry of Interior about the trustees, DEM Party MP Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit said: "We will expose the lawlessness and coup against democracy by the Ministry from here."

Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Group Deputy Chairs Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Sezai Temelli and MPs made a statement in front of the Interior Ministry on the appointment of trustees to municipalities.

Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit said: "It is a ministry that usurps the will of the people and their right to vote. As long as this trustee politics continues, as long as the AKP continues to move forward with trustee politics, as long as they continue to spreat this trustee mentality throughout the country, we will insist on our democratic struggle. We will expose the unlawfulness and coup d'état of democracy by this ministry from here.”

Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit stated that the government continues to oppress the Kurdish people in order to stay in power in 2028.

“Now they are trying to set a course for us with trustees on the one hand and political genocide operations on the other. They are trying to neutralize us in the field of democratic politics. They want to destroy our people's right to democratic resistance against this fascism. But let us say; this issue is not like the plans on the table,” she said.

'HOW WILL YOU ENSURE PEACE?'

The government has no concern for democracy or law said Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and added: “7 of our friends were arrested in Istanbul for protesting the massacre committed by gangs in Syria. They arrested dozens of our friends including our Deputy Co-Chair Sevtap Akdağ and Kayapınar Co-Mayor. They have pressed the button; on the one hand they want to divide the opposition, on the other hand they want to destroy the struggle of the Kurdish people. We ask those who say peace; how will you ensure peace in Turkey by appointing trustees one after another, by paving the way for gangs in Rojava, by paving the way for the massacres of Kurdish people, Christians, Druze, Yazidis, Arab Alevis in North East Syria?”

Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit said the following: "There are those who rejoice that a Turkish flag has been planted in Aleppo. Whose land is Aleppo? Whose city is it? Does Turkey want to occupy Aleppo and Syria? We ask. Why don't you respect the will of the Kurdish people and the peoples living there? Why don't you develop a policy for the peoples of Syria to live in peace? Why don't you prevent these massacring gangs?

300 thousand people from Afrin took refuge in other cities. Now those 300 thousand people have been displaced again and settled in Shahba. For 3.5 years they have been trying to survive in the worst conditions. Because their lands were occupied by the gangs that Turkey today calls SNA. Now they have left Shahba and are moving to another place.

YOUR INTENTION IS NOT PEACE

Today there are more opportunities for peace than ever before. There are conditions for peace in Syria and for peace in Turkey. But your intention is not peace. By calling it peace, you are provoking war and escalating the tension in the country. You ignore the will of the people by appointing trustees; can there be such a peace? Calling it peace and deepening the isolation, calling it peace and making a coup against the people is not peace. There cannot be such a way to peace.

SURUÇ AND KOBANÊ ARE THE SAME

Turkey is the perpetrator of any massacre of the people living there, especially the Kurds. You cannot say we do not know; who has bases in Idlib? Who protected this HTS in Idlib? What guarantees did you give in Astana? Come out and answer these questions. Now they are going to massacre Kurds who are trained, equipped and armed, they are attacking Kurds' living spaces and they tell us that Kurds in Syria are one thing and Kurds in Turkey are another. There is no such world. Suruç and Kobani are the same, there is only a border between them. Qamişlo and Nusaybin are the same.

We will never allow the massacre of peoples in Syria. We do not condone the massacre of our people there. We will fight until the end for the territorial integrity of Syria, for the peoples living in Syria to determine the future of Syria and for peace to be built in Syria.”
