The "Great Freedom March", which started on February 1 for the physical freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the democratic solution to the Kurdish issue, reached the Xelfetî district of Riha on the 15th day where PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan was born. The people welcomed the marchers with a banner written: "Welcome to the land where the sun rises" and chanted the slogans "A thousand salutes to Imrali" and "Down with the February 15 conspiracy". Marchers reached the DEM Party district building accompanied by slogans and made a statement there. The statement was made by DBP Co-Chair Ciğdem Kılıçgün Uçar.

 

'THE MARCH OF MILLIONS'

 

Uçar thanked everyone who supported them throughout the march and said: “We were not the only ones who carried out this march; Thousands and millions marched. We saw the lands and history of Kurdistan everywhere. We call out to those who criminalize our march; The owner of this march is the Kurds, it is our people's demand for peace. We are waging a struggle that continues to raise the voice of peace in a geography where war has been imposed for a century. Mr. Ocalan was brought to Turkey on February 15, 1999. When Mr. Ocalan was brought here, this conspiracy was described as ending the Kurdish reality. But this conspiracy did not succeed.”

 

'THE ONLY SOLUTION IS OCALAN'S FREEDOM'

 

Pointing out that the policy of oppression was implemented against all their demands, Uçar said: “We call out to the state that does not lift a finger against the Kurdish issue and puts the police in front of us; Kurds have never bowed down and will never bow down. Everyone needs to combine their strength to solve the Kurdish issue. The Kurdish issue is a reality that needs to be solved. We call out to those who insist on war policies; This issue will be solved and the only way to solve this issue is to ensure Mr. Ocalan's physical freedom.  After the international conspiracy, the Turkish state continues an isolation system that tramples its own law and international law, but the Kurds do not give up their demands.”

 

'WE THANK EVERYONE'

 

Emphasizing that the Kurds living in four parts of Kurdistan did not give up their demands, Uçar said: “The Kurds fought very strongly against ISIS, which was created by the hegemonic powers that carried out the international conspiracy. The Kurds, especially Kurd women opened the door to a new paradigm in Rojava. Mr. Ocalan's paradigm must come to life in this geography. We will end this march here, but we will fight until Mr. Ocalan's voice reaches everyone and the Kurdish issue is solved. We thank everyone who worked and struggled throughout the march.”

 

The marchers then set out to go to Amara, Ocalan's village.

 

15 DAYS WALK COMPLETED

 

The marchers were not allowed to enter Amara and returned to the Xelfetî district center. 75 marchers gathered at the DEM Party Xelfetî district building and announced with slogans that their 15-day march was completed.
